1. The data refer to the persons against whom criminal proceedings were completed. They may be convicted of offences committed in the year in question or in a previous year.
2. The sentence of imprisonment includes life sentence and excludes suspended imprisonment.
3. Data for the year 1974 from Keryneia, Ammochostos and Morfou, which were lost because of the Turkish invasion, are excluded.
4. The table from 1975 and after is based on data submitted by the Assize and District Courts of Lefkosia, Ammochostos, Lemesos, Larnaka and Pafos.
